“Compendium is a sequel to my Burgues font from 2007. Actually it is more like a prequel to Burgues. Before Louis Madarasz awed the American Southeast with his disciplined corners and wild hairlines, Platt Rogers Spencer, up in Ohio, had laid down a style all his own, a style that would eventually become the groundwork for the veering calligraphic method that was later defined and developed by Madarasz.

ReType announce the release of Yomar Augusto’s ’Lasagna’ typeface.
’Lasagna’ began as an experimental font used by Yomar Augusto in CDs and posters. It is an ironically geometric typeface suitable for contemporary design work.
Yomar Augusto is a brasilian graphic designer, graduated in the Type & Media’s Royal Academy of Art, The Hague.
He has been involved in two Rojo ArtStorm projects and been published by Taschen in ’Contemporary Graphic Design’.
Recently, he took part in the Letter Forest art show, which featured experiments in calligraphy, painting, drawing and printmaking, and was held at Nanzuka Underground Gallery in Tokyo, Japan. Yomar lives in Rotterdam and is currently working at 180Amsterdam in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

The Type Museum has successfuly collected a large proportion of
all the definitive historical materials relating to the art,
design & manufacturing production in Britain of the typefaces
in which the world’s languages are communicated and recorded.
This collection has been closed for two years and needs
re-opening to public access, educational and scholarly use –
not broken up or put into storage as is curently being
proposed. The Type Museum’s collections need exhibiting,
New Prospero Pro font marks ten years of font releases

Stevens Point, Wis. (July 8, 2008) — Independent digital type designer Tim Rolands has released a new cross-platform OpenType font called Prospero Pro to mark the tenth anniversary of his first public font release.
The first publicly released font from Tim Rolands came just over ten years ago – a Nicolas Jenson-inspired oldstyle Roman called Prospero and distributed as shareware. Prospero Pro, a brand new OpenType remake of that early font includes completely redrawn letterforms that capture the character and spirit of the original while incorporating many improvements born of experience.
